HONOR Band 5 Announced; Comes With Blood Oxygen Monitor

Alongside its two new smartphones, HONOR also announced a wearable during its launch event, the HONOR Band 5. While it has a familiar silhouette, it does come with a pretty impressive new feature.

The new feature in question is a blood oxygen monitor. The company says that this is important for two reasons. For one, it helps as part of the sleep monitoring feature. Another reason is that it helps detect fatigue. If your blood oxygen levels drop to below 90%, then it’s an indication to take a break, for instance.

Other items on its spec sheet include a 0.95-inch AMOLED 240 x 120 display, and a 100mAh battery that HONOR claims will give the Band 5 a 14-day battery life. It also comes with activity tracking that covers 10 different sports, as well as a real-time heart monitor. There is also a variant with NFC that can be used to make mobile payments.

The HONOR Band 5 is priced at CNY189 (~RM113) and CNY219 (~RM131), for the standard and NFC versions, respectively. The former set to be available in China starting 24 July, while the altter will become available on 29 July. For now, HONOR has not said anything about their availability in Malaysia.
