Larger iPhone 2019 Model To Be Called iPhone 11 Pro

You’d think that following last year’s iPhone Xs and Xs Max, Apple has set the standard for iPhone naming convention. That may not necessarily be the case, as rumours indicating a change to that has just surfaces. Specifically, the larger iPhone 11 may actually called the iPhone 11 Pro instead.

MacRumors reports that a mysterious Twitter account called CoinX indicated as much, corroborating an anonymous tip received earlier. It’s an account that surfaced early in September last year, with most of its tweets also being made in that month. That said, it did accurately predict the names of the iPhone Xs, Xs Max and XR.

While it’s not as specific as calling out the exact names of the iPhone models, this does cast doubt on the iPhones’ naming convention. It could be possible that the larger model of the iPhone 11. With that, it could mean that the lineup for the 2019 iPhones may consist of the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro, and the iPhone 11R. And it is only the Pro model which will sport the triple camera setup.

Based on when last year’s iPhones were launched, Apple will likely announce this year’s set in September as well. We’ll just have to wait and see if the company is really switching up the names of its phones this year.
