Nikon Will Reportedly Debut D780 DSLR At CES 2020

Even though Nikon have been pushing out mirrorless cameras with their Z series, it seems that they’ve not given up in the production of DSLRs either. Based on a recent rumour, the company is speculated to reveal the Nikon D780 camera, the successor to the five-year-old Nikon D750, at CES 2020 this weekend.

This tip was provided by reliable industry leaker Nokishita on Twitter, stating that Nikon has allegedly updated its product list in overseas markets to include several new products including the D780 camera. The tweet added that the products will be “announced soon,” while another source, Nikon Rumors, suggests that the official announcement will take place on 7 January 2020 during the first day of CES 2020.

Tech Radar reports that the Nikon D780 camera is expected to be equipped with a 24MP back-illuminated sensor for improved low-light performance, an enhanced imaging processor, and is capable of 4k/30p video recording. The camera also reportedly include a 51-point autofocus (AF) system when focusing via the viewfinder, and a 273-point on-sensor phase-detection AF system.

As for pricing, Nikon Rumors speculates that the camera will cost between US$1999 (~RM8168) and US$2199 (~RM8985). As mentioned earlier, all information on the alleged Nikon D780 are merely rumours for now. Seeing that CES 2020 will be happening this weekend, we’ll eventually see if the rumours of the camera are proven to be accurate or otherwise.
