Redmi Note 7 Goes Official: Armed with 48MP Rear Camera and Qualcomm Snapdragon 660

As promised, Redmi which is now dedicated sub-brand under Xiaomi rather than just a phone series has officially unveiled its first device in the form of Redmi Note 7. It also marked the debut of the brand as well as Xiaomi’s first 48MP phone.

As it turns out, the 48MP sensor is actually a Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor which was announced by the Korean company back in October. This doesn’t mean that Redmi is turning away from Xiaomi’s long-time camera sensor supplier Sony though as there will be another version of the phone called Redmi Note 7 Pro which will feature the 48MP Sony IMX 586 sensor.

Meanwhile, the 48MP f/1.8 camera is not the only snapper on Redmi Note 7 though as it is also being accompanied by the secondary 5MP camera. Additionally, there is also another 13MP camera which is housed within the teardrop-shaped notch on the phone’s 6.3-inch Full HD+ LTPS display.

In terms of processing power, the Redmi Note 7 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with RAM options of up to 6GB and storage space of 64GB. Comes standard with USB Type-C port and 4000mAh battery, the new phone also supports Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging tech.

Price-wise, the 3GB/32GB variant of the phone will be sold later this month for CNY 999 (about RM 603) while the 4GB/64GB and 6GB/64GB models will be made available for CNY 1199 (~RM 724 ) and CNY 1399 (~RM 845) respectively. We’ll keep you updated once we receive any updates regarding the phone’s status for Malaysia.
